    Bonding over films

As my daughter packs for her first semester of college, I've become a little sentimental and have thought about some of the special times we've spent together recently. We have visited The Guggenheim Museum, The Frick Collection, the Cape May Zoo and downtown Cape May. We've gone out to eat, walked in parks, and, of course, done more than a little shopping together.

    Getting to brighter days

For many, the challenges of life are what make the day exciting; for others, those same challenges can seem dreadfully insurmountable. While the quest for that ever-elusive answer to why things are the way they are can be debilitating at times, maybe comfort comes in knowing that you are not alone. The Princeton community is filled with resources to support you and those you care about when facing struggles of mental illness, grief, loss, and other hardships.

  • Slam dunk

At our third annual Salsa Slam last night, mellow, tradtional, old-school salsas prevailed over flashy and spicy varieties — and when all of the tasting and voting were over, two newcomers walked away with the top prizes.

    Book ahead with The Goldfinch

I'm on page 31 of "The Goldfinch." Only 753 pages to go until the meeting of the library's fiction book group in November. That translates to a solid three months to complete my journey into the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel that's received more than its share of attention.

    September's buzz books

Your beach bag might be filled with books to carry you through the summer, but it's never too early to start thinking about what you'd like to read for the fall. Many of us at the library recently attended the annual Book Expo America conference, where we learned about the great books publishing in the months to come and which titles are receiving the biggest chatter within the book industry. Here are a few buzz-worthy titles coming out in September that you might like to add to your reading list.

  • Gifts from the sea

    Gifts from the sea

For the past few weeks someone (or maybe more than one person) has been leaving shells on the library shelves. The shells are beautiful, as you can see from the picture of just some of them, and quite clean. These "gifts" raise many questions. Who is doing this? Why would someone come into the library mutiple times and leave these for other people to find? Is there any significance to the placement of the shells?

So many questions. Answers are less forthcoming.
