Calling all students: be a trashion star!

The Princeton Environmental Film Festival is just over a month away, and the library is already gearing up with some excellent programming to complement the screenings and discussions taking place. We are excited to announce the first ever PEFF Trashion Show – a fashion show of original designs made from items that would otherwise have been discarded or recycled – on Saturday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. And Princeton-area students, we need you to help us make it spectacular.

How? Participation is open to students in grade 3 through undergraduate university. To enter the trashion show, complete our online registration form. The deadline to enter is Saturday, March 14. Suggested materials for your trashion designs include (but are not limited to):

Paper/plastic bags
Newspapers/magazines
Food packages/wrappers/labels
Tin/aluminum foil
Soda tabs
Incomplete decks of cards
Metal/plastic bottle caps
Plastic cups
Broken umbrellas
Lightweight cardboard
Plastic utensils
Corks
Wrinkled tissue paper
Empty tape rolls/spools of thread
Old lampshades
Foam peanuts/packing material

Let your creativity rule! But keep in mind, transparent or revealing designs are prohibited. For trashion inspiration, visit our Pinterest board.

Help! Want to participate but don’t know where to start? Come to our Trashion Design Workshops. Please bring materials you would like to use to create your design. Start collecting now! Workshops will be held in our Conference Room on the following dates:

Saturday, Feb. 21 from 2 – 3:30 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10:30 a.m. – noon

The workshops are drop-in, and participation in them is not required for entry into the trashion show. But registration is required for participation in the trashion show itself, so don’t forget to complete the online registration form to enter your design.
