Spend the summer reading A Universe of Stories

Beginning June 14, join us as we launch “A Universe of Stories,” this year’s summer reading program for all ages, with challenges and prizes that are sure to appeal to all of our community members.

Adults can expect to explore unfamiliar terrain with A Universe of Stories by reading through at least four phases of the moon featured in the summer reading moon log. Select from a variety of genres, from mysteries to memoirs, to short stories, and more. Find suggested titles at our summer reading website, and feel free to read your own selections. Everyone who registers will be entered into our first prize drawing for an Out of Print Library Card tote bag, packed with advance readers’ copies, and a signature red library mug. Check out our site for more prize information like what’s on tap for two lucky grand prize drawing winners. All entries must be received by Aug. 31.

Children, from preschool through 12th grade, are encouraged to take the 20/20 challenge. Read for at least 20 minutes a day, and after 20 days of reading (in a row or not) have been completed, stop by the library to claim a free book and Thomas Sweet ice cream certificate. Complete up to three 10-day bonus rounds for additional fun incentive prizes. Registration closes Aug. 17. Prizes may be collected through Thursday, Sept. 5. To register and get a reading record, visit the youth services staff at the information desk on the third floor. More information may be found here.

What are you waiting for? Mark your calendar, and get ready to blast off into a reading-filled Universe of Stories!
