March is Women’s History Month. Whether you know a lot about the topic or you’re interested in learning more, the library’s Museum Pass program can help you explore art and history related to women. Check the website for availability to book your pass.
The Guggenheim Museum is currently exhibiting Hilma af Klint: Paintings for the Future through April 23, 2019. The first major U.S. exhibition to feature af Klint’s work, the show chronicles her fascinating life as a woman painter whose radically abstract artwork was ahead of its time. Through May 17, 2019, the New York Historical Society Museum & Library is featuring a variety of exhibitions and special installations for Women’s History Month. As part of their exploration of women’s history, the NYHS is displaying Betye Saar: Keepin’ It Clean. The exhibit features Saar as a key figure in the Black Arts Movement and the feminist art movement. Additionally, starting on June 28, 2019, the New York Historical Society Museum & Library will display LIFE’s Women,
Currently on display at the Philadelphia Academy of the Fine Arts is Rina Banerjee: Make Me a Summary of the World. The first North American show to highlight her large-scale sculptures and installations, the exhibit offers a multi-sensory experience with themes of identity, culture, and more. Throughout the duration of this exhibit, enjoy free admission to the museum on Sundays.
You don’t need to check out a Museum Pass to visit “Redefining Old Nassau: Women and the Shaping of Modern Princeton.” Using materials from Princeton University’s University archives, the exhibit highlights the contributions, stories, and achievements of women at Princeton. It’s on view at Mudd Manuscript Library in the Wiess Lounge through spring 2019.
