Thrills and chills at your library

Halloween is just around the corner, so there’s no better time for creepy, spooky programs. This month the Youth Services department will be hosting some events that are sure to give you the heebie-jeebies.

On Monday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m., we will welcome three wonderful authors who write strange, paranormal tales for middle schoolers. Joining us will be Claire Legrand (“Cabinet of Curiosities”), Lauren Magaziner (“The Only Thing Worse than Witches”) and J.A. White (“The Thickety”). Each author will read from their books, discuss the horror genre for children and teens and have several other surprises too. Come dressed in your ghoulish best. Books will be for sale by jaZams and can be autographed by the authors.

If ghosts are your thing, be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, Oct. 29. That’s when the South Jersey Ghost Research Group returns to the library to discuss the findings of several of their investigations. SJGR brings photos, EVP recordings (electronic voice phenomenon), video clips and the tools they use in the field. It’s a fascinating lecture and one that will make your hair stand on end.

Last, but not least, be sure to stop by the Youth Services department on Halloween. Once again, the staff will be in costume handing out some treats – and tricks!
