It’s a tradition in the Youth Services department at Princeton Public Library. The first day of summer also is the first day of our summer reading programs. This summer preschoolers through teens are invited to “Dig into Reading.” The general theme of our programs and clubs will be the “underground.”
Preschoolers who complete early literacy focused activities or children and teens who read and reach specific milestones will earn cool incentives. Once again, we are pleased to announce that Thomas Sweet Ice Cream & Chocolate will generously be donating Blend-ins for those reaching the 25 hour milestone. Children who complete the 50 hour goal have the chance to win t-shirts or even an ant farm. Lucky teens have a chance to win weekly prizes of goodie bags chock full of prizes and books. One lucky teen will win a high definition Kindle Fire.
Beyond our three age specific reading clubs, we have a season’s worth of fun in store for families. Know someone who is interested in reptiles, amphibians and spiders? We have the perfect program for them. Bill Boesenberg of Snakes-n-Scales returns to the library with creatures that live beneath the surface.
Where can you go to meet a baby T-Rex? Right here at your library! We are so excited to have Field Station Dinosaurs return with their robotic dinosaur in July. Want to see last year’s pictures?
Have a little one who is really into construction vehicles? Make sure to bring them by for our first Diggers, Cranes and Trucks Day in July. We’ll hold a special story time and then children will have the chance to explore a wide variety of heavy-duty construction equipment.
Ever wondered how to play the didgeridoo? By the way, that’s a wind instrument developed by Indigenous Australians of northern Australia, around 1,500 years ago. Children will have the opportunity to do just that and more at the very lively Didgeridoo Down Under program this August.
