Love is in the air and on the page

February, 2014, marks the third year in a row that Princeton Public Library is playing matchmaker. We’ll set you up with a blind date, specially chosen from our collection, if you take a chance and borrow one of the gorgeous gift-wrapped books from the display behind the first floor Welcome Desk.

Our Blind Date with a Book display features more than 40 books that we think you’ll like to read.  Selected by library staffers, each book has a brief teaser to pique your interest (and give you a small clue to what might be inside, concealed by the wrapping paper and ribbons). Come in and pick out your blind date. Love is sure to be in the air and on the page this Valentine’s Day!

And if a bookish blind date isn’t enough, we have more Valentine’s Day fun. Please help spread the word that we are offering a wonderful way to celebrate the day of love in this free performance on Friday, Feb 14, from 7-9 p.m. in the Community Room. Explore love’s many forms, from friendship and romantic love to religious love and love of the land, as set in art songs, opera, and musical theater. The path to the heart is rarely smooth, so there’ll be plenty of twists and turns along the way. Acclaimed singers Shannon Hunt and Ivan Woods and pianist Diane Goldsmith will guide you through musical selections by Mozart, Purcell, Bernstein, Barber, Gershwin, Fats Waller and Sondheim.
