We invite you to check out this month’s PPL Youth Services recommendations for activities, resources, and new books in the library collection for children ages birth to five years old and their families.
On July 20 at 3 pm, the spectacular hand-made puppets of Robert Rogers Puppet Company will transport audiences at the library to the wondrous depths of the ocean, with this warm-hearted story for all ages. Finnie is a young fish who lives in a peaceful coral reef, but she yearns for adventure and wonders what life would be like far from home. She gets her wish when a sudden cold current carries her off to a distant seascape, where surprising and strange creatures become her new best friends. Finnie does indeed find a treasure, but it’s not at all what she expected! Read more about Robert Rogers Puppet Company.
“Seas” the day and explore “Oceans of Possibilities” with Summer Reading! Take inspiration from this aquatic-themed list of books for young children. Log early literacy activities from June 15 – August 15 to earn prizes. Learn more about the library’s Early Reader Summer Reading program (birth-PreK) at princetonlibrary.org/summerreading. Be sure to also check out our D.I.Y. storytime resource Storytime At Home: Ocean.
Join us on Wednesday evening, July 6, at 6:00 pm or Saturday morning, July 9, at 10:30 am for a special edition storytime about the underwater world. Children ages 4 and up can explore the ocean deep, with stories, songs, and rhymes all about the creatures who live under the sea. Children must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Registration is not required.
The library has partnered with the Princeton Shopping Center again this summer to bring you live music and rollicking times for all ages in the shopping center’s courtyard green. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join the fun as we kick off our Summer Nights Series with the one and only amazing Grace Little Band on Thursday evening, July 7, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The series continues every Thursday night this summer with a stellar lineup of performances through August 18. All courtyard programming is free and open to everyone.
Storytime with Jeff is back! Join local storyteller Jeff Trainor from jaZams Toy and Book Store for an in-person, interactive storytime outside Lillipies Bakery in Princeton Shopping Center every Sunday morning at 10:00 am. As long as the weather cooperates, Jeff will be offering his lively, outdoor storytime all summer long and into early fall. And don’t forget that the library also continues to offer Outdoor Storytime on the Princeton Shopping Center courtyard green every Tuesday morning at 10:30 am (weather permitting) this summer.
