    Courageously saying, I do

Are you up for a challenge? Resolutions, vows, declarations abound, year in and year out. The courage to simply do the things you promise to do can elude you for years, or a lifetime.

    Page to Stage

Several years ago our library was fortunate to receive a challenge grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to support more humanities-centric programming and resources. The $500,000 challenge grant, matched with $1.5 million in local private support, now provides a steady source of income for the library program team’s effort to provide creative and engaging programs.

    Placings holds online

The first thing that I like to do before placing a hold on an item is to log in to my library account. I like to do this first because if you are not logged into your account when you try to place your hold, you will be prompted to log in while you are in the middle of placing your hold.

If you haven't ridden a camel...

There's nothing like the firsthand experience of visiting another culture.  Meeting local residents, tasting exotic flavors, visiting historic sites, viewing different architecture, all play an important role in the travel experience. Capturing the journey with photographs is a way of preserving the memories, and also sharing them.

    Apps for foodies

Did you know that when it comes to grocery shopping or finding the perfect recipe, there's an app for that? If you have a tablet or smartphone, choosing weeknight meals, sharing your edible creations, or planning a dinner party have never been easier. Here are a few of my favorite apps that can help bring out the inner chef in all of us.

    Jar of dreams

As we begin the new year the air is filled with talk of resolutions. Many of us are taking this time to consider what we have accomplished and what adventures lie ahead. At our recent TEDxYouth@PrincetonLibrary, I had the honor of getting to know a lot of young people and to hear their dreams for the future.

  • Princeton's living room

The hectic holiday season is finally over and before I start working on my new year's resolutions (all of which I will break by the end of the month) I need to relax. Unfortunately the only spot to relax in my house is usually covered with my kid's Legos, toy trains, and half-finished craft projects. Once again the library comes to the rescue! There are nooks all over the building with comfy chairs perfect for reading and relaxing. I want to point out three of my favorite spots and invite everyone to take some time to just sit and chill (or warm up) here at PPL.

A great year in Youth Services

When I realized my next blog was going to be posted on New Year’s Eve, I knew I had to write about the wonderful year we had up on the third floor. Youth Services is always a bustling place, sometimes so busy that we often lose sight of just what happens on a day-to-day basis.
