Neurodiversity and Autism

This book list highlights lived experiences, research, and perspectives that reflect the range of neurodivergence, including autism. Neurodiversity is the idea that differences in how people think, learn, and process the world—such as autism, ADHD, and other cognitive variations—are natural forms of human diversity rather than simply deficits to be “fixed.” The titles gathered here reflect a range of language used to describe these experiences—some preferring “autistic,” others “neurodivergent”—while acknowledging the evolving conversations about observances shaped by concepts such as Autism Acceptance, Autism Awareness, and Neurodiversity Awareness, each carrying its own history, emphasis, and meaning.
