Friday nights: now with extended hours

For as long as anyone can remember, a groan would emanate from the library each Friday around 6 p.m. That’s when we would announce that the library was closing for the day. Our customers would scramble to finish their work, get in line to borrow a book or DVD or rush in to get a museum pass for a Saturday outing.

Many of these customers expressed regret that we couldn’t stay open later on Friday evenings. But now, thanks to generous private funding provided by the Princeton Public Library Foundation, the 6 p.m. announcement is history. Beginning this Friday and continuing until further notice, we will be staying open until 9 every Friday night.

Not wanting a quiet start to this new initiative, we decided to launch on the day of the third annual Princeton Battle of the Bands. So come out and hear music by some of our talented teens. And if you’re here, don’t worry about the 6 p.m. announcement.

See you in the library.
