Bio

From the author: Winifred Hughes is the author of The Village of New Ghosts, winner of the 2024 Henry Morgenthau III poetry prize from Passager Books, as well as two previous prize-winning chapbooks. Her poems have appeared in Poetry, Poetry Northwest, Atlanta Review, International Poetry Review, and The Literary Review. “The Scene Without” was the overall winner for the 2023 Fish Anthology poetry award from Fish Publishing in Ireland, while “Revenants” received honorable mention for the 2022 Robinson Jeffers Torr House award. “Dyslexic” has been recorded for the Poetry Foundation’s permanent audio archive. Over the years, she has received two individual artist’s fellowships from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. She is a board member of Friends of Princeton Open Space and Washington Crossing Audubon Society and leads frequent bird walks in local wildlife refuges. She teaches annual courses in literature and nature at the Watershed Institute in Pennington.
