Bio

From the author: Deanie Yasner writes stories that children love to read–over, and over, and over. An author of extraordinary depth and sensitivity, she draws inspiration from her love for children and the power of imagination. Deanie enjoyed a successful career as a special education teacher and behavior consultant and spent her early years as a member of the only Jewish family in a small, segregated Mississippi town in the Jim Crow South. Her profound memories and inability to understand the unjust and unfair rules of that time proved to be the impetus for her historical fiction middle-grade novel, Essie Rose’s Revelation Summer. Using insights gained from these life experiences, she writes with belief in the power of words and stories to change children’s lives.

Deanie resides in historic Princeton, New Jersey, with her husband. When not writing, she enjoys Scrabble, Tai Chi, and daydreaming of new stories in the making.
