Stickers, coupons for ice cream and summer reading logs go together like barbecues and fireworks on the Fourth of July. But, summer reading and an America the Beautiful National Park Pass or a print subscription to either National Geographic or The Atlantic are also valid associations one could make. Those are a few of the grand prizes that adults can win if they submit a completed summer reading log by Aug. 15.
Everyone knows Adventure Begins at Your Library. Adults, 18 years or older, are invited to register and pick up a reading log (which is in the format of a zine) at either the Welcome, Information, or Youth Services Desk. Alternatively, one can register online by completing this form. Once completed, participants will receive a link to download the log to print. Complete the program by reading three books set in three different regions: Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America or South America. If you’d like some suggestions, we’ve created book lists for each location. Check them out on our summer reading webpage.
Teens and kids are invited to take the 20-day challenge. Read for at least 20 days to complete the log. Preschool participants can also join the fun by completing 15-20 early literacy activities. Sign up and track your progress through Beanstack or keep track offline by visiting the Youth Services Information Desk on the third floor to pick up a paper log, available in English and Spanish. All reading and activities must be completed by Aug. 15, and the final day to claim prizes is Sept. 6, while supplies last.
