Books To Celebrate Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month. Check out this staff-curated list of books for children that feature notable women and girls, past and present, and celebrate stories of strong, confident and empowered girls full of grit. Recommended ages for each title are included, so you can determine which are best for younger children.
Pi Day Princeton and Einstein’s Birthday Celebration 2024 promises to be more fun than ever! Every year, the town of Princeton celebrates with an irrational number of events, including a children’s Einstein look-alike contest, Dinky rides with Einstein, pie sampling, and many more family-friendly activities. Events take place at various locations throughout downtown Princeton (including the library) and Princeton Shopping Center on Saturday, March 9, and Thursday, March 14 (Einstein’s birthday). Princeton Tour Company’s website offers a complete list of events with locations and times, including Einstein Storytime presented by the Historical Society of Princeton happening at the library on March 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the third-floor Story Room.
New Jersey Makers Day: Let’s Make Music!
On Saturday, March 17, families with children of all ages are invited to join us for an interactive and fun program featuring a sing-along, bucket drumming and more in celebration of New Jersey Makers Day 2024. Presented by Mister Boom Boom (Frank Coates), a music educator, entertainer, multi-instrumentalist, YouTuber, and owner of Music Play Patrol, families are sure to have a rollicking time making music together. The fun begins at 2 p.m. in the library’s first-floor Community Room.
The library offers monthly in-person storytimes for children ages 2 and up, in five different languages, besides English. Presented by guest readers who are native speakers, sessions include German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish. Check the library’s online calendar for upcoming dates, and meet us in the Story Room on the third floor.
What’s New, Daniel? by Micha Archer
This wonderful new picture book continues the adventures of the curious and insightful preschooler, Daniel, from the series, including “Daniel Finds a Poem” and “Daniel’s Good Day.” Nature-loving Daniel meets Grandpa in the park and soon discovers everything that’s new with the arrival of spring.
