All SET

This Saturday, March 15 at 2:00 pm marks the return of our Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) club, All SET. With the new buzzwords STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Common Core everywhere, it was only natural to create a program like All SET.

For the next three months children in grades 1 and up are encouraged to participate in hands-on science demonstrations, led by graduate students of Princeton University’s Chemistry Department.  This club meets monthly on Saturdays and each month new demonstrations will take place in our Story Room.

The Youth Services department isn’t a stranger to promoting these types of educational programs and clubs. For the last year, we have hosted an interactive Nano Science exhibit on the third floor that makes the science of Nano technology simple and easy to understand for our younger customers. On loan from the NJ State Museum, this traveling exhibit will be with us till later this spring.

Math is a big interest in Youth Services. Middle school and high school students are invited to join our MC^2 clubs. Student members of the Princeton University Math Club meet once a month on the third Saturday and offer two clubs based on knowledge and skill level; recreational and advanced.
