Technology Center


Classes

We offer a wide array of classes, from Microsoft Office for Mac to iPad Basics to Downloadable eBooks and Audiobooks. To inquire about upcoming classes please call 609.924.9529 x220 or send email to refstaff@princetonlibrary.org.

The class calendar for technology classes can be viewed from the library's website by going to Attend then selecting Technology or by clicking here. We have print brochures in the library with the full listings of courses.

iMacs

There are 12 iMac computers in our Technology Center. The iMacs have the latest Mac software installed including OS X Yosemite. These iMacs are available for public use except when there is a class in the Technology Center.

Ask the Mac Pros

Drop by these sessions where members of the Princeton Macintosh Users Group will answer questions about Apple devices and help you get started on our iMacs. There are several sessions throughout the year. The current schedule can be viewed here.

Services


Computers

In addition to the Technology Center, the library has 35 PC computers on the 2nd floor and 25 PC computers for kids and teens on the 3rd floor. All of the computers are equipped with internet access, Microsoft Office and a variety of other software from image editing to audio editing. See our full list of software here.

Earbuds are available for purchase at all of our service desks. Headsets are required for watching movies or listening to CDs.

wireless internet

Wireless Internet is available free to any library customers with WIFI enabled laptops and wireless devices. The entire library building is a WIFI Hotspot. To join our wireless network, search for Princeton Public Library in your available networks.

Customers with laptops can also connect to the Internet for free via our wired Ethernet network. The library is equipped with study tables that have plug in access. Ethernet cables are available for loan at the Reference Desk on the 2nd Floor.

Gadgets

We offer a variety of technology items for your convenience. The library has adapters for your devices and several SD Card Readers. And if you have a Mac laptop and the battery is getting low, we have power chargers at the Reference Desk. These chargers are available for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and MacBook Pro with Retina.

Phone Charging

If you are in the library and your phone is running out of battery, you can see either the Reference Desk or Youth Services Desk and leave your phone for charging. We can charge most iPhones and Android devices.

Software

Adobe Creative Cloud

The library provides the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite on select computers. The Adobe Creative Cloud suite is available on both PC and Mac. The Adobe Creative Cloud includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Dreamweaver, and many more.You can make a reservation to use one of these computers to ensure it's available.

Open Source

The library includes open source software on all of its public desktop computers. Some of the programs we include are Gimp, Audacity, OpenOffice, VLC, Notepad++.

DVD and CD Burning

All computers are equipped for CD or DVD burning. All computers have a disc drive as well as multiple programs with burning capabilities like iTunes, Audacity, and Windows Media Player.

If you need a blank disc, we have blank CDs and DVDs for purchase at our Reference Desk on the 2nd floor.
