A recipient of NEA, Guggenheim and Pew Fellowships, Christopher Bursk was the author of 16 books of poetry. His last book, “With Aeneas in a Time of Plague,” was published posthumously by Ragged Sky Press in July. Bursk was a mentor and friend to many in the local poetry community, including the guest readers for this event.
The poems in Bursk’s final collection are inspired by Vergil’s Aeneid and deal with modern issues of love, loss, family, masculinity and more. Many of the epigraphs are in Latin from the Aeneid and some are translated into English.
