Library staff member Cassie Smith joined Yolonda Jordan in a virtual discussion.
Yolonda Jordan began crocheting in her youth thanks to her grandmother. After creating and sharing her first doll design, she started her own business in 2015. In her book, “My Pretty Brown Doll: Crochet Patterns for a Doll That Looks Like You,” she says that she aims “to explore the art of crochet in a way that celebrates the magic of the African American experience” and “celebrate the pretty in every shade of brown” through her patterns. In addition to her recently published book, her patterns are also available on her website and through Etsy. You can find Yolanda @MyPrettyBrownDoll on YouTube and Instagram.
This event was recorded on January 19, 2023.
