English Conversation Groups:

Practice speaking and listening with others in English. For intermediate and advanced speakers.

Los participantes practicarán hablar y escuchar en inglés. Para hablantes intermedios y avanzados.

Virtual:

Monday |  7:00pm-8:30pm (online on Google Meet)

Wednesday |  4:00pm-5:30pm (online on Google Meet)

Thursday |  10:30am-noon (online on Google Meet)

ESL Online Learning:

The library offers cardholders language learning through Mango for speakers whose native language is one of the following: Arabic (Egyptian or Modern Standard), Armenian, Bengali, Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin), French, German, Greek (modern), Haitian Creole, Hmong, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Somali, Spanish (Latin American), Turkish, or Vietnamese.

Community Partners with English Language Learning Resources

The library regularly collaborates with a number of community partners. The programs listed below are not library programs, but our work with the YWCA, Princeton Adult School, and Literacy NJ Mercer County are often mission aligned.

Literacy NJ: Connects English Language Learners to trained volunteer tutors.

Princeton Adult School: Offers classes for Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced language learners. (Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,  and Thursday evenings in the following sessions: October-December; February – April, June-July)

YWCA: The YWCA Princeton ESL program offers a comprehensive educational program, with over 30 English courses in basic literacy, core classes Level 1-5 (which include all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking), and skill-specific, enrichment classes like Intermediate and Advanced conversation, pronunciation, grammar, American culture, and Citizenship classes.

Curriculum is designed for English language learners at every level of fluency from beginners to advanced students seeking skills for work readiness, post-secondary education, like Workplace Readiness, Career Exploration and Soft Skills, English for specific careers, Business English, computer classes, etc..
