Muslim Heritage Month – Nonfiction

On April 29, 2023 Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy hosted an Eid Celebration at Drumthwacket, where the Governor signed a joint resolution establishing January as "Muslim Heritage Month" in New Jersey. Importantly, the language of that resolution highlights how "incidents of anti-Muslim violence and rhetoric are still prevalent in our State" and promotes "educational initiatives" as "critical to combatting bigotry." Similarly, on Dec. 11, 2023 the Mayor and Council of Princeton adopted a resolution (23-380) to condemn and combat Islamophobia. The Library joins these statewide and local initiatives not only in rejecting Islamophobia, but also in celebrating Muslim heritage by providing reliable resources on these topics and informing the public about the rich heritage of Muslim culture, history, and art.
