Audrey Vernick

Bio

Audrey Vernick writes nonfiction and humorous fiction picture books and middle-grade fiction. Her books include the New York Times Notable Book “Brothers at Bat,” “She Loved Baseball,” “First Grade Dropout,” and Is “Your Buffalo Ready for Kindergarten?” She is also co-author of six books—five with Liz Garton Scanlon – “Five Minutes (That’s a Lot of Time) (No, It’s Not) (Yes, It Is);” “Bob, Not Bob;” Gryphon Award Honor Book “Dear Substitute;” and 2023 release “The World’s Best Class Plant;” as well as two with Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich—”Two Naomis” and “Naomis Too.” Audrey has received three fellowships from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, most recently in 2019. Her books have been translated into fifteen languages. A frequent presenter at schools throughout the country, she lives near the ocean with her family.
