November 2022 | Matt Mleczko

This recording is presented in partnership by Princeton Public Library and Not In Out Town Princeton. Graduate student Matt Mleczko discusses his proposal that Princeton University donate a 36-acre plot of land to a community land trust for the purpose of building affordable housing.

Mlezcko’s hopes the university will realize the potential to promote housing justice by convening and forming a community land trust to own and operate affordable housing by and for the community, with priority for a significant portion of the housing given to Black residents and University staff who do not qualify for its generous mortgage assistance program.

Matt Mleczko, a Princeton University doctoral candidate and author of the petition, will discuss different aspects of the proposal and offer guiding questions for a broader discussion on how this effort relates to housing justice in other communities.
