Windows


If you happened to look up into the second floor windows of the Library on a recent Friday evening, you'd have seen figures moving in dim light. You might have seen the figures dancing. You might have seen them hugging. You wouldn't have seen the tears. Or the boots kicked off on the floor and the heels shed. Inside, library staff bid their fond farewells to our departing Executive Director, Leslie Burger.


A rose for Emily


Last week I had to say goodbye to my truck. Like any beloved member of a family, my truck had a name (Emily, Emiliana, Emsers, etc, depending on my mood) and a long history. A college graduation gift from my father, she and I have driven everywhere together: Chicago, Wisconsin, New Jersey, New York City, and countless trips back and forth to my home in Alabama. She has moved me and my friends.
