We are delighted that the featured speaker for our 2021 Book Lovers Luncheon is Erin French, the owner and chef of The Lost Kitchen in Freedom, Maine, which was recently named one of TIME Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places, author of “The Lost Kitchen” cookbook and now of “Finding Freedom: A Cook’s Story; Remaking a Life from Scratch.” Erin’s memoir tells the stories of multiple rock-bottoms and how she slowly rebuilt her personal and culinary life around the solace she found in food—as a source of comfort, a sense of place, as a way of bringing goodness into the world.
Erin will be in conversation with Doris Friedensohn, professor emerita of women’s studies at New Jersey City University and author of her own food-related memoir, “Eating As I Go: Scenes from America and Abroad.” Doris’s interest in food is as a yardstick of consciousness – a reflection of the tension between identities that we are born with and that we construct. We anticipate a rich discussion between the two women.
After the talk, we invite you to stay online to chat about Erin’s book and her conversation with Doris in small groups with friends and librarians from Princeton Public Library (from 12pm-12:30pm).
Purchase a ticket that includes lunch to enjoy a delicious boxed repast from Occasions by Cintron featuring the Spring Bread Salad from Erin’s cookbook “The Lost Kitchen,” accompanied by local cheeses from Cherry Grove Farm, plus a Maine-inspired dessert of blueberry tart and lemon Chantilly cream. Boxed lunches will be available for pickup only on Thursday, April 29 between 9:30am-10:30am at Nassau Presbyterian Church.
Please join us for a delightful conversation in support of the library.
