Author and Columbia University learning consultant Elizabeth C. Hamblet explains how the system for accommodations works at college, describes students’ rights and responsibilities within that system, and shares what the research says are the skills and knowledge correlated with success at college. She also reviews the paperwork students need to apply for accommodations and discusses what accommodations may be available.
Hamblet, a learning consultant working in Columbia University’s disability services office, has worked at the college level for nearly two decades. She speaks throughout the country on preparing students with disabilities for success at college and is the author of “From High School to College: Steps to Success for Students With Disabilities.”
