The Snowy Day Storywalk
Explore a storywalk at Princeton Public Library featuring the classic picture book, The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, a fun and active way to read a book together and get outside at the same time! Beginning December 3, the storywalk will be located in the windows on the first floor of the library facing Witherspoon Street and will feature prompts for early literacy activities to further engage children. You can also read the book with us during our special edition of Super Saturday Storytime Shorts that recently premiered on our YouTube channel, which includes songs, a craft and a list of related books, activities and resources. And don’t forget to visit the library’s Snowy Day-themed tree during the Morven Museum and Garden Festival of Trees running now until January 10. This tree captures the magic of snow, childhood, and pleasure in small moments, inspired by the book.
Rhyme and sing along with us! Youth Services staff share the best hits of storytime. Check back often for new rhymes and tunes.
Youth Services staff presents special Storytime Shorts released on occasional Saturdays. Each Super Saturday Storytime Short includes a book read-aloud, songs and rhymes, plus ideas and resources for related extension activities to do at home. Families can find Super Saturday Storytime Shorts on the library’s YouTube channel and enjoy from home whenever they like. We also encourage families to share their own inspired creations by sending photos to email@example.com or tagging @princetonpl on Instagram or Twitter.
Students in grades K-3 are invited to join Youth Services staff for Lit Lab, where books meet hands-on maker activities! Each Lit Lab will include a book read-aloud and related maker activity to do at home, plus a curated list of other books and media on the same theme, as well as ideas and resources for additional activities. We also encourage families to share their own inspired creations by sending photos to firstname.lastname@example.org or tagging @princetonpl on Instagram or Twitter. A new Lit Lab episode will be released every second Saturday of the month beginning in January and made available for on demand viewing whenever you like!
Hear installments of Rick Riordan’s fantastical adventure Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief read by the library’s Teen Advisory Board members.
Youth Services staff read a poem every day during April 2020 to mark National Poetry Month. View the archive and celebrate all year.
