Toby Tobias: “Journey from Johannesburg”

Sunday, September 8, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Songwriter Toby Tobias presents a musical/theatrical/visual arts performance featuring original songs and vignettes about his life growing up in Johannesburg and Jerusalem before moving to New York. The show’s message is one of racial equality, understanding and acceptance of other cultures and religions.

Toby Tobias is a South African-born, Huntington, New York-based songwriter who has immersed himself in all genres of American music of the last 50 years. His interest in African rhythms and world music, coupled with his keen ear for highly intuitive arrangements, has been the hallmark of his writing and performance styles, and he has garnered a strong following of listeners on Long Island and beyond. He is a graduate of the prestigious Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem and continues to search for material that stays as close to his musical roots as possible while at the same time reaching for new and exciting musical universes.

Part of the Fall Storytelling series.
