Poets at the Library

Featured poets Robert Rosenbloom, Adele Kenny, Nancy Lubarsky, and Tom Plante read from their works, followed by an open-mic session.


Robert Rosenbloom hosts a monthly poetry reading at the Bridgewater Public Library for the Somerset Poetry Group. His poetry has appeared in the Paterson Literary Review and Lips and several other literary journals. He is the author of a chapbook, “Reunion,” published by Finishing Line Press, and his poem “Ashtray,” published in Exit 13, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. A lawyer, he lives with his family in Bound Brook.

 

 

 

 


Adele Kenny is the author of 24 books and chapbooks. Her poems, reviews, and articles have been published in journals, books, and anthologies worldwide. Among other awards, she has received poetry fellowships from the NJ State Arts Council, 1st place Merit Book Award, a Writer’s Digest Award, a Merton Poetry of the Sacred Award, and Kean University’s Distinguished Alumni Award. Her book, “A Lightness, A Thirst, or Nothing at All” was a Paterson Poetry Prize Finalist. A former creative writing professor, she is founding director of the Carriage House Poetry Series and poetry editor of Tiferet Journal. She has read in the US, England, Ireland, and France, and has twice been a Geraldine R. Dodge Festival poet.

 


Nancy Lubarsky writes from Cranford, New Jersey. She has been an educator for over 35 years and is currently superintendent in Mountainside, New Jersey. She has been published in various journals, including Edison Literary Review, Exit 13, Lips, Tiferet, Stillwater Review and Paterson Literary Review. She received honorable mention in the 2014 and 2016 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards. The author of two books, “Tattoos” (Finishing Line Press) and, most recently, “The Only Proof” (Kelsay Press). She has also been nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize.

 

 


Tom Plante studied Geography at the University of California in Berkeley and worked for several newspapers, including The Berkeley Barb, The Irish Echo, and The Courier News, and the County of Union, New Jersey. Tom published Berkeley Works magazine (1981-85) and has published Exit 13 Magazine, an annual poetry journal, since 1988. His essays and poems have appeared in The Journal of New Jersey Poets, Lips Magazine, Tiferet Journal, Ireland of the Welcomes, Edison Literary Review, Meta-Land: Poets of the Palisades, Home Planet News and elsewhere. His collections of poems include “My Back Yardstick” (CC Marimbo, Berkeley) and “Atlas Apothecary” (Finishing Line Press, 2016). Tom and his wife Patricia have lived in Fanwood, NJ since 1988.
