Open Archive: Farming the Garden State

November 13 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Historical Society of Princeton

Did you know that, throughout the 1800s, almost 50 percent of New Jersey was farmland? At this event, attendees can explore ledgers, bills, and other ephemera that illustrate Princeton’s important agricultural past.

The Historical Society of Princeton’s Open Archive series allows visitors to interact with little-seen artifacts and documents from HSP’s vast collection. Featuring a different theme each time, these events present historical material with minimal interpretation and encourage visitors to make observations, ask questions, and be the historian themselves. HSP’s curator of collections and research will be on hand to share information and answer any questions.

Co-sponsored by the library and the Historical Society of Princeton.

Presented with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this programming do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities
