Film: “Quest” – screening and discussion with director Jonathan Olshefski and Christopher “Quest” Rainey.

August 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Filmed over eight years, this documentary chronicles the daily struggles and successes of an African-American family in North Philadelphia whose patriarch produces recordings by local hip-hop talent in a basement music studio.

Shot with vérité intimacy, “Quest” follows Christopher “Quest” Rainey and his wife, Christine’a “Ma Quest,” as they raise a family while nurturing a community of hip-hop artists in their basement home music studio. Epic in scope, “Quest” is a vivid illumination of race and class in America and a testament to love, healing and hope. Official Selection, 2017 Sundance Film Festival. A co-production of ITVS and American Documentary | POV. Running time 90 minutes.

Join us at 6 p.m. for a Continuing Conversations on Race get-together.

The screening will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Q&A with director Jonathan Olshefski and Christopher “Quest” Rainey, who is featured in the film.
