Author Talk with David Howard on “Chasing Phil: The Adventures of Two Undercover Agents with the World’s Most Charming Con Man”

The author discusses “Chasing Phil: The Adventures of Two Undercover Agents with the World’s Most Charming Con Man,” his true-crime story about the high-stakes 1970s FBI pursuit of notorious con man Phil Kitzer.

From Howard’s website: “Chasing Phil” is the incredible true story of the FBI’s first undercover white-collar crime investigation, in 1977. The book follows the exploits of two young agents, both of whom were untrained in undercover work, as they travel around the world with wildly talented high-finance con artist Phil Kitzer. Anchored by larger-than-life characters, framed by exotic locales and an irresistible era, “Chasing Phil” is high drama and propulsive reading, delivered by an effortless storyteller.

David Howard is an author and magazine editor who has worked as part of teams have won four National Magazine Awards. He has been the executive editor of Popular Mechanics and Bicycling and has written for many publications, including the New York Times, Travel + Leisure, Men’s Journal, Outside, and National Geographic Traveler. His first book, Lost Rights, was about the 138-year travels of an original, priceless copy of the Bill of Rights. He lives in Portland, Maine.
