Tuesday, February 26, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The eldest daughter of revered composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein discusses her book “Famous Father Girl: A Memoir of Growing up Bernstein.” The broadly evocative memoir offers an intimate look at Bernstein on the centennial of his birth.
In “Famous Father Girl,” the author mines the emotional depths of her childhood and invites readers into her family’s private world. A fantastic set of characters populates the Bernsteins’ lives, including the Kennedys, Mike Nichols, John Lennon, Richard Avedon, Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Robbins and Betty (Lauren) Bacall.
Jamie Bernstein is a writer, broadcaster, filmmaker and concert narrator. In addition to writing her many articles and concert narrations, she travels extensively, speaking about music as well as about her father. Her film documentary, “Crescendo: the Power of Music” has won numerous prizes and is now viewable on Netflix. For more about her life, see jamiebernstein.net.
Labyrinth Books will be on site and a book signing will follow the talk.
