Author James Williams: “Stand Out of Our Light: Freedom and Resistance in the Attention Economy”

Monday, September 9, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Author James Williams, who worked as a Google strategist for 10 years before pursuing a philosophy doctorate at Oxford, will discuss how digital technologies fragment our attention in ways that inhibit our ability to lead purposeful lives and, ultimately, threaten the future of education and democracy. The book was President University President Christopher Eisgruber’s pre-read selection for first-year university students.

Free copies of “Stand Out of Our Light” are available for those who register for the event at the Welcome Desk on the first floor. Registration is encouraged but not required. Registered community members will be given preference in case of standing room only.

Presented in partnership with Princeton University.
