A place for teens at the library

Looking for something to do or a place to connect with friends this summer? The library offers plenty of fun, informal programs that are easy to discover and participate in all summer long.

Teen Summer Reading

Our Summer Reading program runs through Aug. 15. Teens who read for 20 days are eligible for a free book and ice cream coupon while supplies last. To participate, pick up a book log in the Teen Center or at the Youth Services Desk or download the Beanstack app on your phone.

Chat, Craft & Chill

On Tuesdays, starting July 12, teens are invited to join us for a weekly program to share their favorite books, movies, TV shows, music, etc., or just meet some new friends. There will also be hands-on activities and crafts. This program will continue monthly in the fall.

Instagram & TikTok

Everyone and everything is on social media and we are, too! During the Covid-19 lockdown social media was a lifeline for many teens in the community. We have continued to create a space for teens to learn more about programs at the library, find book recommendations from peers and librarians, watch crafting tutorial videos, and discover social media trends. You can follow us @ppl.teens on Instagram and TikTok.

Teen Center

You can almost always find something to do in the Teen Center. Each month there is a new Take & Make crafting kit available with all the supplies you need to create a craft in the library or at home.  Past crafts include Baby Yoda pins, paint-your-own flower pots, and LED circuit cards.

Teen Bulletin Boards

We have three bulletin boards in the Teen Center, one of which is designated as an interactive board. Pop in to vote on your favorite, grab pronoun pins to wear to celebrate Pride Month, or discover upcoming events.

Keeping TABs

Run by our Teen Advisory Board, Young Adult authors are interviewed about their writing process and how they craft characters, develop character relationships, find inspiration and more. You can listen to episodes on SpotifyApple Podcasts and Google Podcast.

Remember to stop by the third floor of the library to learn more about all of our ongoing teen programs and activities!
