    Remembering a librarian

Earlier this month, as 2014 was ringing in, a quiet and touching tribute to Princeton Public Library’s former special collections librarian, Terri Nelson, was published in Town Topics. You might have missed it, just like you might have missed seeing Terri, "the librarian on the bench." Library staffers found the piece to be an interesting personal testimony, and we shared it together. We hope you will, too.

    What do you think?

Your input is important to us. The library encourages feedback to help us offer programs that you find valuable, informative and entertaining. With your ideas, we can consider how to expand our programs and services, improve how we do things, and purchase books and other materials that might not have been included in our collection.

    Appy New Year

Now that we're into the second full week of 2014, it's likely that some of us have fallen off-track in keeping our New Year's resolutions. Life (or maybe a polar vortex) just gets in the way sometimes, even with the best of intentions. But it's not too late to give up on this revitalizing practice. Whether you're looking to try something new, make a big decision, become healthier, finish a project, learn a new skill, or something totally different, there are many great apps that can make sticking to your resolutions a little bit easier.

  • Top 10 most popular library items (ever)

It's the start of a brand new year and instead of listing my resolutions (most of which I have already broken), I will indulge myself in another "bestseller" Princeton Public Library list. In the past I have made lists of the most popular books, music CDs, and DVDs at the library. This time I will list the ten items with the highest circulation numbers for all time. These ten titles have proven to be incredibly popular over the years and, even though they may be a bit worn, they are still being checked out.

  • It's all about Roary

    It's all about Roary

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Roary the lion and I am the most sought out member of the Youth Services department. Why am I so popular? Well, that’s an easy answer. I am cute, cuddly and furry and I love a good adventure. Speaking of adventures, I have had quite a few since I came to the library earlier this year. Did you know that I can visit your house too and have adventures with you?

  • For 2014: A new e-book and audiobook collection

For 2014: A new e-book and audiobook collection

Changes are on the horizon in 2014 as we continue to improve our digital collections. Right after New Year’s Day, Princeton Public Library will unveil a new version of our e-book and digital audiobook library, via OverDrive®, Inc. While the library has been offering digital content to our customers since 2005 as part of the eLibraryNJ consortium, on January 2, 2014 we strike out on our own with a new PPL OverDrive collection and website.

    We've got your 2014 resolution

Bring in 2014 with a New Year's resolution that you'll still be talking about in the spring, summer and fall. • Comfort reading

    Comfort reading

There are tons of awesome cookbooks out there. The library's collection on the second floor is proof of that. Spend five minutes browsing it, and I challenge you not to come away with your arms full of diverse, beautiful, glamorous titles to borrow. But what if, like me, you love cookbooks but don't have the patience, courage, or finesse to actually make any dishes? Just like that old adage, "those who can't do, teach," my motto is "those who can't cook, read!"

    Window shopping

Not sure what to get your bibliophile friend or relative for the holidays? How about a beautiful book? The coffee table tomes listed below are designed to be savored and look best in traditional paper. The sheer size and details of the illustrations are too much for most tablets or e-readers. If you want to test drive one of these before purchasing I suggest you check out our big books table in New Nonfiction area on the first floor of the library. You can see the table from one of our windows facing Witherspoon Street.
