Take a book, leave a book: Little Free Libraries

As a public library lover and employee, I am all about borrowing materials for free and returning them (in a timely fashion) to my local library. Of course, there are other ways to get your hands on a good book, and the Little Free Library movement is a fantastic way to share your fondness for books and reading.

    This summer with #PPLTech

The summer tech series kicks off with Capturing Campus, starting with a guided walking tour of Princeton University to take pictures of some especially photogenic sites. Back at the library, we'll gather in the Tech Center to learn how to move digital images from devices to iMac computers. We will also practice simple editing and photo sharing techniques.

  • Lunch with Jennifer Weiner

    Lunch with Jennifer Weiner

Summer may have had its unofficial kickoff a couple of weeks ago, but this season doesn't truly come into its glory in Princeton until best-selling author Jennifer Weiner comes to town. Jennifer's annual visit is always an incredible treat, as she entertains, enthralls, and has us laughing until our stomachs hurt. This year, we're kicking things up a notch and hosting Jennifer at our Book Lovers Luncheon on Thursday, June 19th at 12 p.m. at The Nassau Club. Tickets are still available. Won't you please join us?

    City Gardens: a love story

Amy Yates Wuelfing and Steven DiLodovico will be here on Sunday, June 1, at 3 p.m., to discuss their oral history of the Trenton nightclub City Gardens. "No Slam Dancing, No Stage Diving, No Spikes." If you lived around here in the ‘80s and ‘90s, you know why the book’s subtitle refers to the club as “legendary.” If not, then read the book or come out to meet the authors.

    #GOT Game of Thrones?

A common question at the welcome desk is, "I'm looking for something to read, is there anything you would recommend? It's actually a question we love to answer, but how do we do come by the suggestions? One way is crowdsourcing!

    Monkey in the middle

Karen Joy Fowler's PEN/Faulkner award-winning novel, "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves," was the recent focus of a lively discussion of the library's monthly fiction book group. The story is familiar: a family punctured by the loss of one of its members, resulting in each of their unraveling, but the cast of characters has one notable distinction.
