Contribute Your Time and Your Talents

Volunteering can be a satisfying way to invest your time and energy and use your special skills.

Princeton Public Library is fortunate to have more than 275 dedicated adult volunteers who contribute their time, talent and energy to the library for a variety of long-term and short-term tasks. During the summer, many teen volunteers help the Youth Services staff with our Summer Reading Programs, library events and other project-based tasks.

Adult Volunteers (18 years and older)

Adult volunteers assist the library in a variety of ways, including:

  • Shelving materials and keeping books in order.
  • Assisting with materials check-in.
  • Maintaining book and community information displays.
  • Assisting with the media collection.
  • Helping in the used book store.
  • Working on special projects.
  • Delivering books to home readers.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete an application. As opportunities arise that match your interests and availability, we will contact you. Most long-term opportunities require a commitment of at least six consecutive months. Applications will be kept on file for a period of one year. Princeton Public Library does not currently accept volunteers who are completing community service per court order.

Teen Volunteers (entering grades eight and higher)

We have extremely limited capacity for teen volunteers during the school year. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete an application.
